750 mL bottle. Pours a deep golden. Smells smokey. Meaty with a sharp woody note. Tastes of sweet bready malt. Smoke kicks in with a hefty meaty flavor. Builds to a sharp, almost astringent flavor in the back end. Medium body. It's good, if a little rough around the edges. Particularly that back end.

16 oz can into a Becher glass.
L: Pours a murky light amber caramel mix with a thin white head that recedes to edge foam, steady light carbo, a few dots of lacing.
S: Twiggy campfire smoked malts, pear, apple.
T: Loosely smoked everything, grains, orchard fruits, a light earthy funk, gently sweet malts, minimal aftertaste.
F: Gently brisk, wet or a bit watery medium to med-light bodied mouthfeel with a medium length half-dry finish.
O: A good taste, not over-smoked, slightly light feel, very approachable. Tastes are light. Nice. I would like this beer more if it had more yeast in the taste. It is very good.

It’s a pretty, light golden color and looks nice and clear in the glass. There’s about an inch of white foam on top that stays for a little while, though it doesn't really leave those "lacing" marks on the side of the glass as you drink it.
It has a super strong and pleasant smoky scent that reminds me exactly of a bonfire or a campfire. If you sniff closely, you can also catch a light, sweet smell of grains hiding underneath all that smoke.

When you first take a sip, there’s a quick hit of light citrus (like a tiny squeeze of lemon) and a bready, cereal-like flavor. Then the smoke takes over and just keeps getting stronger. It feels like the flavor changes from a BBQ smokehouse to a woody, outdoor campfire. Think boy scouts 1985!

It feels really smooth in your mouth. it still feels like a solid, medium-weight drink. The best part is how that smoky feeling just hangs around on your tongue long after you’ve finished the sip.

Partially cloudy, light gold colored body; coarse, lively carbonation; white head, initially thick and sudsy, fades to a wispy coating floating atop the beer. Fruity esters on the nose; pear and peach; touch of smoke as the beer warms. Gentle smoked flavor complementing a somewhat grainy malt taste; multi-grain bread; very little sense of hop bitterness. Heavy body; lightly coarse carbonation mouthfeel; overall gentle warmth.

Indeed, this beer does suggest a Bamberg, Germany rauchbier, but more on a junior level. The beer seems to be unfiltered as far as its appearance goes. The beer definitely opens up more as it warms and reveals more of the beechwood smoked malt character. It's not a heavy hitting smoked beer, but certainly highlights more of the smoked bacon-kind of smokiness that should certainly please people who love that degree of smoked flavor in their beer.

From a 16oz can. No date on the can, but it came into work yesterday October 2nd 2024.

This beer has some clarity to it. It is light golden in color. There's a 1 finger white head to this beer that has decent retention. Not much lacing on the glass.
Aroma is wow! How I missed this aroma. I get a very strong, and pleasing to me, smoky aroma. It is a pleasing smoky bonfire aroma. I also get hints of malty grains underneath the smoke.
Taste - I get a light citrus flavor up front with a cereal hint to it. The smoke kicks in and just builds. The smoke seems to change from a meat smokehouse to a woody, smoky bonfire. I can not get enough of this.
Smooth body. The body is decent for the style, maybe not as thick as the famed German smoked beers, but decent. The feeling from the smoke lingers.
How much did I miss this brewery. I am so glad they're back and I can enjoy the smoky goodness.

The smoke dominates the aroma, roasted malts and floral hops peek through. I get mostly smoked meat in the aroma, but some campfire as well.

Slightly cloudy golden yellow, high level of carbonation, topped by a relatively short, white head with decent retention, taking several minutes to recede to a thick cap and/or 1/8 inch head which lasts quite awhile.

The flavor is likewise dominated by the smoked malts, and as with the aroma, more smoked meats than campfire. Even though the smoke is front and center, it is not overbearing and is handled with a deft touch by the brewer, allowing the underlying helles to come through in the hops and yeast flavors. A very nicely balanced smoked lager. There is a light touch of bittering throughout with a dry finish and enjoyable smoky and floral aftertaste.

The body is moderate with a nicely carbonated feel.

Overall, another very well done smoked beer by HammerHeart. If/when they finally make the arrangement with a contract brewer (as they have announced), I hope the HammerHeart brewer stays closely involved. I'm no brewer, of course, but I imagine it is far too easy to overbalance the smoke. The HammerHeart crew obviously has a love of smoked beers.

16oz can. No dating information found, but a current release.
Cloudy, straw colored body. Thin finger of white head, which recedes to a thin cap. Almost all of the lacing follows down with the body.
Aroma of meat and campfire smoke, with some light toasted malts.
Taste is a balanced mix of smoked malts and floral/herbal hops. The balance continues in the aftertaste.
A little thinner than medium mouth feel. Very good carbonation.
A crisp, well balanced lager with the smoked malt attributes.

From a growler into a tulip while sitting around a campfire on a humid MN summer night. Nice beechwood smoked nose with some lager yeast and bready and grainy malts. Taste follows, but not getting quite as much smokey woodiness or yeast. Feel is medium body medium carb...I don’t know. Nothing to rave about, but solid for the Bamberg style and well-suited to the campfire.

L: brilliant copper amber with a luscious 4" off-white cap with good retention.

S: rich smoky malt aromas

T: rich and malty with well developed smoke flavors

F: creamy, medium body and medium carbonation.

O: Everything you want in a Bamberg style smoked lager. The beer is fresh so the smoke flavors are not washed out or faded. The malt flavors are well developed.

tested from a 500ml bottle, I like this one, it's balanced, smooth, slightly sweet. Nothing heavy duty, not trying to be too much or over the top. It's rather easy drinking. ABV? website listed 5.5% ???
