This beer pours a nice brown color. The head was very thick when poured, though that might be due to the bottle getting shaken up removing the wax. The head is a brownish white, and frothy.
The nose has got a light smoke flavor. I do also detect some malt to it.
The taste is pretty rich with the smoke. It's not overpowering, but very much a part of this beer.
Very smooth feeling going down. Not a watery beer.
I am a fan of smoked beers, and this one is a winner. Glad I got it.

Appearance: Brownish-orange, good head.

Smell: Big ham smoke aroma.

Taste: Big smoked ham flavor, caramel sweetness in the middle, more ham smokiness in the finish.

Overall: New smoked doppelbock from Hammerheart here. I was big into doppelbocks when I first started in craft beer. This is a different beast due to the smoked malt but is a nice, tasty beer. Not too sweet like some DB's. Not particularly heavy feeling either. Still a solid winter beer.

750 ml mini growler from the brewery. Poured into a Hammerheart tulip glass.

Appearance: Pours a deep brown/amber. Moderate amount of bubbles and a slight finger of off white head that settles into a thin patch.

Smell: A toasty and smokey malt driven aroma with a scent of smoke, biscuit, toast, and caramel. Upfront scent of smoke. Malt scent of biscuit, toast, grains, caramel, toffee, wheat, and nuts with yeast. Subtle hints of dark fruit and earthy hops. A pretty nice smokey aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a smokey and toasty malt driven taste with notes of smoke, toast, biscuit, and caramel. Big notes of smoke. Bready malt notes of toast, biscuit, grains, straw, caramel, toffee, wheat, and nuts along with some yeast. Some light notes of dark fruit and earthy hop bitterness. A very good taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Crisp, drying, and pretty smooth.

Overall: A very good smoked Doppelbock. Good mix of smoke and toasty malt notes.
