Pours a hazy, murky, creamy, orange color. 2 finger white frothy head. Nice lacing on the glass as the head dissipates. The head retention is quite good.
The nose has some hops in it, but it's no hop bomb. There's just a hint of juicy, tropical hops.
Taste - There's hops in this for sure. They don't hit right away, but the juicy, citrus hops hit a second in to the sip. It tastes orange to me. Maybe some mango.
The body isn't as creamy as the NEIPA probably should be, but it is damn close. The hops linger. Decent body.
Solid IPA, though, I was also hoping for a smoke element to this beer, considering the brewery. Though, I guess, based on the style, the hops are the show, and the malts aren't really there much.

L: Hazy gold with a massive 3" beige cap with good retention.

S: Citrus and resin with a dash of onions and a trace of malt.

T: Starts with a mild biscuity sweetness seasoned by tropical fruit and a big bitterness on the swallow that lingers.

F: Very creamy, medium body and carbonation.

O: This beer gets points for how the texture, flavor and bitterness all work together. This is not an English IPA it is a New England IPA and this stands apart from many of those as a beer you can drink all night.

Highly hazy, utterly unfiltered. Murky gold. Slight ivory head.

In the nose: fresh and fruity, citrus and a bit tropical, pineapple. Mango-y.

In he mouth: nice bitter buzz up top, citrus hop notes aplenty. Medium body, hop bitterness continues to blaze across the palate. Quite tasty. Even delicious. Yea, I'd go that far. Yum. Yumm diddly. Um. This is right down my junction.

Oh, that Hammerheart NE IPA. It's not smoky, or dark or dangerously strong. They can trick you these guys.

Hazy yet down to earth. A strong backbone of an earthy beer, brightened up subtly by it's hop profile. The only hazy IPA i've had that touches the earth in this particular manner. Leave it to Hammerheart. Truly remarkable.

From the 2018 Hazy IPA bottling:

Appearance: Murky orange, big head.

Smell: Oranges, bit of dankness.

Taste: Citrusy at first, then shifts to a piney finish. Full feeling, and quite tasty.

Overall: Old recipe Reva's was an English style IPA if I remember correctly, I prefer the new version much more. Had this both from the bottle and on tap, very good hazy IPA from a brewery that doesn't go hop crazy.

Poured from 750ml bottle into glass. Label has sticker, 'BOTTLED 6.22.18'.
Hazy, murky deep gold colored body (similar look to apricot juice). Bubbly off white head settles, and leaves behind sheets and strings of lacing. Marked as 7.6% ABV.
Very strong aroma of hops - piney, earthy and floral.
Taste continues with the expressive hops - piney, floral, and a little earthy. Metallic type mild bitterness scrape the teeth, which is similar to grapefruit rind. Lightly roasted malt background.
Medium mouth feel. Good carbonation.
HammerHeart's tap list describes this beer as a "New England Style IPA". The appearance is mostly on point, but the smell, taste, and mouth feel do not fit this description. The smell/taste is not sweet juicy enough, and the mouth feel is not pillowy, but rather sharp and bitter. The aftertaste is like citrus rind, and is not sweet. Get ready to put on your bitter face when you drink this beer.

a lightly smoked ipa in the english style, very dark and malty looking for an ipa on the pour, but good clarity though the amber body and over an inch of lasting and delicate just off white foam. i wonder if this is supposed to be smoked, or if its tainted from their operation with all the heavy smoked beers they produce, and have been producing since the start. i tend to lean towards it being intentionally smokey, i trust these guys enough that if they wanted to do something clean and tidy, they would. i sell as much bitter extinguished campfire smoke, like the way your clothes and hair smell the next day after sitting around one all night, as i do hops, but the hops are there, stronger than in other hammerheart beers, but also sort of traditional, more english and grassy and dried than fresh and juicy and new school. the flavor is nice, malty for an ipa, even for an english one, and there is enough smoke that i cant really taste the yeast, it sits in that spot on my palate, and i never get much english yeast here. some burnt caramel sweetness, and the leafy grassy earthy almost spicy hops finish it out with enough bitterness to win over the sweet malt. fairly filling even though its well carbonated and not real strong, it just sort of sits like dead weight in my gut for whatever reason. neat beer, but it could be much hoppier as an ipa. not my favorite from these guys.

750 ml mini growler from the brewery. Poured into a Hammerheart tulip glass.

Appearance: Pours a deep amber orange. Moderate amount of bubbles and a solid finger of off white head that settles into a thin patchy layer.

Smell: An earthy and balanced English style IPA aroma with a scent of earthy hops and caramel malt. Earthy hop scent of grass with some pine and citrus hints. Malt scent of caramel, grains, biscuit, and cracker with yeast. A pretty solid balanced aroma.

Taste: Like the aroma hints at, an earthy and balanced English style IPA taste with notes of grass and caramel malt. Earthy hop notes of grass along with some notes of pine and slight citrus. Malt notes of caramel, grains, cracker, and biscuit along with some yeast. A very solid taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Creamy and pretty smooth.

Overall: A pretty good balanced take on an English style IPA. Solid mix of earthy hop bitterness and bready malt.
