Mild sour red ale made with peat smoked malt aged in bourbon barrels for ten months. An extended barrel aging allowed this peat-smoked red ale to develop a slight funk alongside notes of bourbon and oak, making a unique variant of our barrel-aged Dublin Raid.

750ml bottle. Wax over cap. Bottling date is '3.21.17'.
Deep amber colored body. Ephemeral off white head, and the surface is very active. Leaves behind some strings of lacing.
Aroma is slightly sour, and backed up by peated malt. Joined by bourbon barrel with oak and vanilla.
Taste is sour and dry. Light flavors of peated malt, funk of leather/tobacco, oak and vanilla bourbon barrel, with hints of red wine and chocolate. Still has some hops influence.
Thicker than medium mouth feel. Good carbonation support.
Hammerheart is known for its smoked beers and this is an example, but the smoked peat aspect is not overwhelming but rather works well as a counterbalance to the funk sour and barrel.

Beer pours a clear, deep rust colour. Smells like banana, smoke, caramel malts, oaky, cereal malts, whiskey, spicy, sticky tree fruits, and boozy. Tastes like dried cherry, soft and velvety carbonation, a little date syrup, and a whiskey/bourbon barrel earthiness, Medium-bodied and sweet throughout, with a bit of tartness at the end.
