16 ounce can into willi becher glass, no can dating. Pours moderately hazy/cloudy burnt golden amber color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big wood smoke, cracker, white bread, herbal, floral, grass, light pepper/pine, pear/apple fruit, and yeast earthiness. Taste of big wood smoke, cracker, white bread dough, herbal, floral, grass, light pepper/pine, pear/apple fruit, and yeast earthiness. Light pine, herbal, woody, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium-plus carbonation and medium body. Fairly crisp, clean; very refreshing finish. Not quite bone dry. Balanced bready/grainy malt, and sticky hop mouthfeel. Light lingering sticky hop dryness with no cloying flavors. Minimal warming 5.9%. Spot on Bohemian pils, but the aromas and flavors felt just a bit too fruity/yeasty. Otherwise delicious. Good smoked malt presence with great balance and nothing overwhelming.

Vartid from HammerHeart. Four pack of 16 fl oz cans, picked up at France 44, 17/07/25, $ 16.72 (Including tax)/$ 0.261 per fl oz. In the walk-in cooler at the seller, this spent the nights in hotel reefers and daytime in an insulated cooler with other cold cans and bottles. Reviewed 11/08/25 (Review 3559). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Undated can. Stored at home at 40 degrees F. Served at 44.2 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature is 51.4 degrees F.
Appearance – 4.25
First pour – Pale Gold (SRM 4), clear.
Body – Deep Gold (SRM 6), hazy. Under direct light, same. When rear-lite, straw and clear.
Head – Average (Maximum 1.7 cm, aggressive center pour). White, low density, fizzy, rapidly deteriorating to a 0.1 cm crown fed by lively carbonation and a large center island.
Lacing – None.
Aroma – 4 – Weak malted grain and near-imaginary smoke.
Flavor – 4 – Begins slightly sweet with malt and hints of smoke. No alcohol (5.9 % ABV, according to the label). No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. No gastric warming. Seems heavier bodied than German pilsners.
Palate – 4 – Medium: Watery: Soft but lively carbonation.
Style: Generally, follows the style guidelines as condensed by BA.
Final impression and summation: 4 (After deducting 0.25 point for an undated can) Uncredited label artist. Malty. To my taste, lacking the crispness expected from pilsners – very low level of hops.

From a 16oz can, no date on the can.
This beer looks slightly murky and a dark golden color. There's a great amount of carbonation in the glass and you see it rising in the glass to produce a 2 finger white head. The head retention is quite good but there's no lacing on the glass.
The aroma has a great hit of grain to my nose. So much cereal aroma. There's a faint hit of a honey like sweetness, and a nice smoke finish to the nose. All aromas are well balanced.
Taste - The cereal hits right away. The cereal has a grainy flavor and a sweet flavor. There's a honey biscuit quality in the flavor. There's a very faint hint of smoke in the beer.
The body seems very full for the ABV, but not chewy. Very smooth feeling. Bubbly feeling. Silky feeling.
This is a damn delicious beer. So glad I bought it.

The aroma is bright, almost citrusy. Biscuit malts. Grass. No smoke that I can detect.
Slightly hazy in a kellerbeir way, pale amber. Heavily carbonated. Good size head, about 1 inch, that is thick, white, and creamy. Excellent retention. Little lacing as the head recedes slowly, but nice lacing as I tip to drink.
The flavor repeats the citrusy component. Maybe a little "second hand" smoke, but very little. The bread/biscuit becomes more assertive in the flavor, building as I drink. Smooth initial taste, transitioning to a nicely bitter aftertaste. The bitterness also builds in the mouth as I drink, but never above more of an accent.
A moderate body, not at all thin, and nicely carbonated.
I well done and enjoyable pilsner.

16oz can. No dating information found.
Slightly cloudy, pale gold colored body. Skinny finger of white head which quickly dissipates to partial skiff. Lacing is just a few scattered spots on the glass.
Aroma of sweet grain malt. Has a background smell of smokey ham or backstrap.
Taste is sweet grain malt, with a hoppy bite. The smoke is there but mild. Malt in the aftertaste.
Thinner mouth feel. Very good carbonation.
Quite good paired with smoked meats and blue cheese. Makes the intake experience more savory.

Can. White head with lace. Faint cloudy golden color.
It doesn’t say anything about smoked, but this tastes like a smoked pils. Very interesting. Bready, biscuity, grassy, and Smokey. Notes of ham/bacon with the smoke. Odd, but enjoyable, like most HH stuff.

From a 16oz can:
Appearance: Slightly hazy yellow, ok head.
Smell: Grain, hint of smoke.
Taste: Grain, touch of ham-like smoke, light feel.
Overall: A new lightly smoked pilsner from Hammerheart. Hits the spot during these hot summer days. It would be interesting to do a side-by-side of this and Leif's Lager to see how similar/different these two are. Good stuff.
