Pours a hearty dark brown. 2/3" lighter brown head. Aroma was very hoppy for a brown ale, but not just that one trick pony, it also had a substantial amount of brown malt to it. Its quite unique, you get all the chocolate malt, chewiness, usual aspects of a good brown ale, but there is this possible dry hopping that isn't just the usual bittering hops for a hoppy brown ale, there is like legit citrus and tropical fruit notes from the hops going on. Would seem like a high potential for clashing, but no, it works, and its also unique.

Taste, man this is like that Van Halen song "best of both worlds" because its both hoppy, flavorful but still has the traditional upshot of a good brown ale. Doesn't resort to imperialized tricks either, this is easy to drink non sludge territory. Plenty of nuttiness and chocolate notes alongside the hoppy orange and guava note.

This truly might be might favorite hoppy brown ale of all time. If i had to guess, I'd say Citra and CTZ, but they don't really give any hop info.

Tasted on tap at Whole Foods Blossom Hill in San Jose
Pours dark brown with a minimal head.
Smell of nuts is very noticeable with hops in the background.
Medium body taste. The malts are promiment with a lingering bitterness.
Medium-long finish.
Generally a well made beer but not one my favorites from Altamont- I think the balance between the malts and hops is not quite there.

Pours a finger of head on a dark brown body.
The aroma is burnt wood and roasted malt.
The taste has moderate pine bitterness with a blend of nuts.
The texture is crisp.
It's a hoppy brown ale and a good one.
