Pours clear, west coast style. New school hop aroma, but lightly so. More juicy fruit hop flavor bursting on the sip, pineapple, guava, sweet orange. Easy drinker.

Yeah, let's review the worst beer I've ever had from Altamont! Crazy part is, they make some amazing hoppy beers that can hang with the top tier. This is the outlier.
Pours a full on caramel or even downright brown. Small bubbled white head. 1/2" deep. The aroma seemed to be all caramel maltiness, and then some mild bittering hop after that. Its definitely not new kids on the new hops, these seem like old school bittering C hops.
Taste, oh man, no bueno. Harsh crystal malt and harsh bitterness that offers virtually no flavors, just a mouth feel of heavy malt and strict bittering hops offering zero in terms of flavor. I pulled zero tropical fruit notes especially, I mean, you can say that the excessive bitterness is just grapefruit rind flavor, ok, won't argue, but tropical or sweet? Hell nah dawg. Its a massive amount of Chinook, tastes like no other hops, tons of crystal malt, like take me back to the 100ibu war era? Hard pass bro. I put the sticker on my trash can as a tribute to symbolism. Altamont rules, but this beer does not.

A bit on the sour side with a crisp hoppy snap. Very nice intoxicating aftertaste, but wish it was smoother to drink. It’s disconcerting and a bit unpleasant.

L: Rich amber relatively clear body, nice finger of sudsy off-white head; great retention and lacing.
S: Somewhat subdued, but hops and malts are well-balanced. Pine is the dominating scent.
T: This beer is brewed with Equinox, Galaxy, and Lemon Drop hops, but the Chinook is the one that dominates the taste; quite bitter upfront (IPA-like) and throughout. There is another, strange taste note to this beer which I can only attribute to the Galaxy and Lemon Drop flavor.
F: Consistency, carbonation, and alcohol are standard for an IPA.
O: This doesn't drink at all like a pale wheat ale but rather like a very old-school IPA with a little modern twist.

On-tap at Alvarado Street Brewery, Monterey, CA
A: The beer is crystal clear yellow in color and has no visible carbonation. It poured with just a patch of white bubbles on the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light aromas of tropical fruits are present in the nose—pineapples seem to stand out in particular.
T: The taste follows the smell and has flavors such as pineapples with notes of guava and honeysuckle. There is a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and a little smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The wheat used in this beer really lightens up the body and accentuates the hop flavors. The smell seemed to be a little muted compared to the taste.
Serving type: on-tap

Had on tap at The Hop Grenade. Very nice. Had next to Berryessa IPA. Should have ordered another offering from Altamont. Up and coming for sure.
