Collaboration with Device Brewing Company
When Steve and Ken sat down to brainstorm the collab beer, there was only two things in mind; hops and IPA. A simple grain bill of 2-Row , wheat, and crystal malt allows the hops to do all the talking. Loaded with Amarillo, Simcoe, Galaxy, and Mosaic hops; this beer has a distinct tropical flavor. Huge notes of guava, papaya, and pineapple are big on the palate and nose; followed by a slight touch of dank.

Mr. Nice Guy
Altamont Beer Works
IPA - American
The light, amber malted grains are a nice balance that allows the citrus/tropical fruity hop aspect to shine but still has plenty of clout. Very crisp, then smooth and kinda juicy feel. Slightly dry, earthly bitter hop finishes which is all left coast

This was the 13th beer I had at the Bistro's 21st annual ipa festival on April 14, 2018.
Alvarado Street makes some great hoppy beers, so this was something I was geeked to check out. Similar to the beer I had before it, this is kind of a hazy copper with a barely off white head in the 1/2" range. Good hop aromas, plenty of tropical fruit, pineapple, guava kind of vibe, Galaxy, Mosaic and Amarillo hops drop a ton of these kind of fruit notes with some of that down under dankness from the Mosaic.
Taste has the bittering hop Simcoe to push things along and pair with the heft of the crystal malt here. The flaked(?) wheat seems like it is to temper the Simcoe/crystal a little bit. There's now a pine/tree kind of pairing with the tropical fruit notes. Finishes relatively dry without a lot of caramel impressions or aftertaste. Again, these crystal malt beers could use a little more carbonation.
EDIT: Had a can of it. The carbonation issue is better. Raising mouthfeel score from 3.5 to 3.75 and look to 3.5.

Another tasty Altamont IPA!
Look is an amber mostly clear with medium sized off-white head.
Smell is heavy tropical -- lots of mango and pineapple up front.
Taste follows the smell but muted, not much bitter or alcohol taste for a 7.2% near double.
Overall solid beer. I think I slightly prefer Maui to this one, but not by much.

Best beer I had during the 2016 Sacramento beer week. A bit hazy and golden, dank and fruity nose, nice balance of bitterness and malt. Excellent Imperial IPA! Wish Device would add it as a regular beer on tap. Altamont is excellent as well, but too far away to visit regularly.

On tap at Device Brewing
A: Pours golden amber with a frothy off white head that settles to a thin layer and leaves a little spotty lacing.
S: Citrus and a little pine, big fruity notes, tropical, a little melon, even stone fruit, and a little caramel sweetness.
T: Citrus, lemon, grapefruit zest, and orange, some pine, a bit spicy, tropical fruit, mango, melon, and light caramel sweetness.
M: Medium body, moderate carbonation.
O: Not a bad brew, but I wish the citrus was a little less bitter and more juicy to compliment the fruity hop character.

Mr. Nice Guy is a Nice Beer! It poured a pale yellow with white head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent is fainter than expected...pine and crush present...but not as pungent. The taste is close to blood orange and is quite drinkable. The Mouthfeel is fuller in body with smooth carbonation. Overall this is great.
