Picked this up in the fall of 2019. Glad I only got one can. Might have been 19.2; not sure.
Pours a slightly darker version of the OG, instead of yellow, this one leans into amber color territory. 2/5" barely of the smallest off white heads. The aroma was noticeably hot. Hoppy yes, but it was competing with an almost fusel like amount of booziness.
Taste, I dunno man, I am a pretty big fan of the OG, but this is just a massive amount more of alcohol, barley and bitterness that goes well beyond the happy spot. Its 11% abv, and boy does it taste every bit of it, maybe more. The bitterness and heft sticky caramel like malty notes accentuate the booziness. What is Mosaic and Citra in terms of fruit like contributions are buried flavor wise. Just a scorched earth level of alcohol perceptible in the mouth feel.
I'd buy this again just to convince myself that Altamont is capable of making a not so good beer. Everything else I can think of from them has been stellar, but not this, no.

Awesome Triple IPA!
*Looks: Medium Dark Amber, Shiny Translucent
*Aroma: Resin, Floral Hoppy, Mild Tropical Guava/Pineapple
*Taste: This is the best part. Insanely easy to drink at 11% abv! Very balanced and reminded me of the legendary Pliny-The-Younger Triple IPA. This is a good substitute of Pliny Younger at a steal price! Very smooth, balanced carbonation, hoppiness is mild balanced by good maltiness. Even people who don’t like IPAs may likely love this beer!
*Overall Verdict*: An excellent A+ Triple IPA that is outrageously easy to drink and enjoy. Buy it!!! I have great respect for this Local Brewery in our great Bay Area!

This is a disappointing beer. The brewmasters have created excellence in their Hop Wash, but this was a tart bomb. I was expecting an exciting explosion of fruit and hops, but instead I got a headache!

Canned 11/5/19, consumed 11/19/19
Pours crystal clear honey gold, small head with low retention and some spotty lacing.
Tropical fruit bouquet for the aroma, taste follows with fuller flavor. Feel is incredibly smooth, med body, that new-age low bitterness - easier than a lot of DIPAs.
Overall, an outstanding tropical triple WCIPA and such a pleasant drink that you could easily have a few of 'em.

32oz growler into Duvel tulip (and consumed on tap multiple times over the course of the release).
A: Pour a crystal clear, and surprisingly light, golden color with a finger of very oily and greasy cream colored head that faded into a lasting collar. A network of soapy lace was left down the glass.
S: Super fresh and juicy tropical/citrus notes of tangerine and sweet papaya. Smells like regular Maui but much stronger. No trace of booze at all, but definitely sweet smelling. Perhaps sweeter smelling than the regular version.
T: Tastes like Maui but maybe slightly more bitter and definitely more intense. What it's not, is more overly alcoholic, slick, cloying, or heavy tasting. They weren't lying when they said this tastes damn near like the original. It seriously tastes like the best batch of Maui I've ever had except turned up to eleven. There's a bit more lingering sweetness in the aftertaste, but the bitterness doesn't linger after the swallow like some triple IPAs. Sweet overall, slightly sticky, definitely tropical.
M: Exceptionally dry, smooth, and light for the alcohol content. I get no alcohol heat whatsoever. The mouthfeel has a slick and greasy quality perhaps more than the regular, but as a stand alone triple IPA this is very light and crisp for the style. Solid bitterness but it's not lingering after the swallow. Flavor is an intense version of Maui. Carbonation is moderate and smooth.
O: This is definitely the best triple IPA I've had, at least since you could still get pitchers of Younger at the brewery back in 2011. I'm not saying this can't somehow be improved, everything can be improved, but I am saying that giving this less than perfect score feels dishonest.
