An even more tropical approach to our classic Maui Waui; a Mosaic/Citra IPA. Infused post fermentation with natural tropical fruits.

Sometimes when you have an elite 1st tier, world class product, you come up with variants of that product trying to cash in and capture more. Here, they found a way to use the cheaper tropical fruit that the more expensive hops they use accomplish. Let's see if it works.

Still pours out the cool can label with ample golden clarity and 3/5" white head. She's still a looker. Funny thing I noticed, my review of the OG MW was after a Bistro pour, its ugly and not as nice as they are out the can. So this score is actually higher, even though the other one is just fine when not left in a pitcher for an our or whatnot. Aroma leans more into the sweeter tropical fruits of mango and guava more than the Mosaic and Citra hops.

Taste imparts a sweeter aspect, again, due to the usage of fruit + hops instead of the OG use of just hops. Its not bad though. Just sweeter. Same for mouthfeel, also keeps it from having that crisp snap back. Cool variant, good enough, but I'll stick with the OG.

Pours clear, classic west coast in appearance, but lives up to the tropical in its name on the sip and aroma. Big juicy burst of guava and passionfruit, with some pineapple for good measure. More sweet than bitter. Easy drinking.

Golden color with a bubbly white head. Aroma of pjneapple, kiwi, and orange. Very tropical flavored. I can really taste the pineapple. There is a nice hint of piney bitterness as well making this a solid west coast IPA. Clean grainy malts back the beer up without being overpowering. I wish I had a regular Maui Waui to taste this side by side next too, but as far as I can tell the tropical additions only enhance the flavor of the beer without dominating it.

I’m getting a ton of apple cider vinegar. Very sweet on the end.

Canned 12/4/18, consumed 12/17/18

Poured a beautiful gold, most clear with a nice inch+ head that left huge bands of lacing.

Just like the label says, this is absolutely an all tropical take on their super easy drinking, low bitterness fave. Aroma is just a tad light in comparison to the taste. Flavor is just great if you like 'em tropical. Feel is just like the original, on the medium-thin side, low body.

Have to say I like this a bit better than the original. They pulled this off nicely with the mixing in of real fruit.
