I had this on-tap at Special Brews in Lynnwood, WA.
Appearance: extremely dark brown with enough haze to seem almost black. Head is a finger of creamy tan foam and a beautiful lace is left on the glass as I drink.
Smell: very nice malty aroma with a light roast and a nice chocolate character. Not over the top, but nicely balanced with the right amount of complexity. I like it.
Taste: sweet and mildly roasty with a good caramel character as well as light doses of chocolate and coffee. Very well put-together.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a nice carbonation and a solid creaminess. Works for me!
Overall: this is a really solid example of the style. I could see drinking a lot of this.
