12oz can on sale, says 6.3% ABV. This has been a great summer beer so far
tastes like Hawaiian derriere. Like.. if after a long night of Laulau, Kalua pig, and Poke - you took a generous pour of yourself into a pint glass and delivered it to me like it was consumable. But then, it was. And not only that, it was above average, Like 3.75 above average.
I like it, what else can I say. Topical and dank and gud

L-Hazed deep oak color
S-Bursting with aromatics. A lot of pine, ganja, tobacco. Dank. Also notes of juicy citrus fruits...thinking oranges, tangerines, sweetened grapefruit. Great aroma.
T-Dank hops....bong resin, tobacco, pine and a toffee like sweetish malt backing. Balanced. Personally would prefer the malt dialed down just a bit but this is good.
F-High side of medium bodied. Carbonation is perfect.
O-Very enjoyable beer. Love the aroma.

these guys are killing it, definitely making some of the better hoppy beers in minnesota right now. this is a very solid double ipa, classically styled with a big fresh pine element to the hop complexion, plenty of dry hopped aromatics and also more bitterness in here than is trendy right now, i like how complete it is, and also how drinkable it somehow remains for its size and flavor intensity, this doesnt drink like most doubles, even with the higher abv. i think part of that is that the malt complexion is a little lighter, its not so heavy and sweet, and so it has a little more smoothness to it. the hops are super fresh in here, northwestern and woodsy, balanced by a floral honey note and a little sticky weed-esque dankness. it comes in waves, it best when its still pretty cold, and is really one of the better local beers in this style that i have had in awhile up here. very well done, bent paddle rarely if ever disappoints, and this new one is sure to be a crowd pleaser! thanks to my buddy for sharing a can with me!

Pale amber color with a finger of head. A slight haze and some particulate suspended in the liquid. Appears to be unfiltered. Aroma of citrus and tropical fruit hops. Flavor likewise is citrus, pine, and tropical fruit. Also has a subtle malt sweetness that balances out the flavor to a certain extent. No sign of alcohol. Medium body with lively carbonation. I like this IPA but it is not a "Haze Bro" IPA so it will not get the love it deserves.

this beer is really good in an average sort of way. well balanced in terms of flavor and bitterness. mouth isn't too thick; booze isn't too prevalent. i don't really like it, but there's nothing to dislike in this can. i would buy another 4.

Pours a light amber with a quickly-dissipating white head. Very hop-forward on the nose, resin with a hint of alcohol. Taste is equally hop-forward, with orange, pineapple, and hop resin coming through. Still a bit of a boozy presence. Starts out as a hop bomb with good malt balance in the finish. Sticky mouthfeel, medium-bodied and smooth. Not quite as easy-drinking as Bent Paddle's other beers, but it's definitely done well.

Poured from 16 oz can into shaker pint glass.
A: Pours a clear orange-yellow hue with 1 inch bubbly white head continuing to be maintained by moderately active carbonation jets. Good retention.
S: Citrus (orange and grapefruit) and pine notes (honestly a bit weaker than I was expecting given what was written on the can). Hint of sweet malt too.
T: Follows aroma fairly closely...citrus (orange and grapefruit) and pine notes. The caramel malt backbone is more prominent here. Bits of tangerine and pepper around the edges.
M: Light body. A tad watery on the feel. Sweet citrus and malt. Mild to moderately bitter throughout. Good malt balance.
D: A decent brew, but not quite excellent. I have to continue to remind myself that this is an imperial pale ale and judge it accordingly. It is almost as if this is striving for IIPA status, but the pale ale style is holding it back too much. I do like the creativity, Bent Paddle!
