This robust version of our black ale features a smooth, chocolatey, semi-roasted malt profile that sweetly balances out the doubled strength. Notes of oak and whiskey from an extended aging period in bourbon barrels creates a welcoming warmth. This iteration of our Double Black Ale features a shot of coconut for an extra level of flavor complexity and is the perfect companion for a late night viewing of the Northern Lights...or to accompany any natural wonder you may come across.

really solid work again from these guys, and a splendid edition of an already really good beer in double black. the coconut is prominent, toasted and sweet and really well enhanced and brought up by all the whiskey, which is somewhat intense in both the nose and the flavor of this, but has a real coconut character of its own, along with rich sweet vanilla and charred oak, charcoal, and faint smoke, the low end here is quite robust. deep dark chocolate here too, nice with the vanilla of the whiskey and the sweet coconut, to me its very desserty, sweet all the way through, but the complex flavors all come together really well, its hard to set my glass down even at this intense strength. so smooth from all the wood, not as boozy as it should be for what it is, and with some nice dark cocoa and coffee properties as it warms and finishes. more coconut than some folks will probably prefer, but i thought the high dose was interesting and the base beer is plenty big enough to support it all. really well done, they should bottle this one if they dont already...
