L: A beautifully radiant hazy orange with a tight ivory foamed head that faded to a thin and partial cap and a very lacy ring on the glass.
S: That morning breeze is blowing right over a strawberry field and lemon orchard. There is also a wonderful donut shop aroma mingled in, lastly a touch of dank weediness. Pretty complex overall.
T: Follows the nose but with more lemon or lemongrass, and less strawberry and pastry. It's reasonably dry overall on the finish.
F: Off-dry with a light-medium body and smooth mouthfeel and sufficient carbonation.
O: The clear winner of the six APAs/XPAs/IPAs tried on my last visit to Bale Breaker. The standbys they can are good and were at one time favorites (especially fresh bottomcutter), but their experimental brews onsite are where they really shine! If this canned well, I'd be drinking it like crazy year round. If the brewers are reading this, please consider this one in your regular lineup. I'll do some free advertising to keep it around!
