its been a joy to drink a bunch of fresh hop beers from these guys this fall, not sure anyone does them better. this is a collaboration with wandering hop and barley browns, who also kills it with these. its a stronger ipa, done with all wet citra, and its predictably delicious. the citra seems to vary less from pellet to wet form than some of the other varietals i have seen used a lot this fall, simcoe and mosaic come to mind, where they seem almost muted in some of the beers, but this is obvious citra right away in the nose and taste, lemony and resinous, perhaps a little less softly spoken than it can sometimes be, a bit more oomph behind it, but this is a known entity. the base beer is oddly light for how strong it is, on the drier side with some light minerality and a clean fermentation profile, not much there in flavor or texture from the grain either, just a tad stronger than a lot of them have been. a hint of greenness, under ripe mango, and something floral like tulips uniquely enough, on top of all the usual citra notes. i like the wetness in the feel as much as the flavor here, its drippy and almost sticky for a flash, but lighter again by the end. very fresh tasting beer overall, well dosed with the hops, and dangerously easy drinking. sometimes the single varietal wet hop beers seem like they are missing something, but not here. another winner from these guys!
