fresh hop ipa with citra, mild as these go, some english malt in here, and a lower abv, almost more of a pale ale, good balance, amazing freshness not just from the hops but from the malt too, in collaboration with hidden mother, which is where i had this one, just delicious. ive said before i dont think citra is its best self in a single hop fresh hop context, but it gets pretty close here, it seems to need the nutty sweetness of the malt to really stand up all the way, lemongrass and orange blossom honey notes in the nose, soft melon and even a dill note in the flavor, less lemony than citra often can be, more tropical, and the malt presence alongside it the whole way is nice, not too much, enhancing rather than distracting. this is in some ways very simple beer, the yeast is a nonfactor, there is very mild bitterness, and it ends up just being a cool fusion of two key ingredients with good attention to detail on the water chemistry and the ferment, nothing to it, but its delicious, the citra is insanely vibrant in here, and seems more complete to me than it often does in this context. definitely a pint beer. very cool collaboration, both of these two breweries know their way around the hop fields and fresh hop season, so no surprise this is excellent...
