killer fresh hop ipa here featuring wet simcoe, along with citra, mosaic, and a citra product called hyperboost i need to learn more about. its certainly punchy and pungent, light in body, obviously simcoe forward, strong notes of grapefruit and gin botanicals and curiously to me also red berries, very fruity, somewhat tame bitterness as these go, so pretty easy drinking, i was super impressed with the fresh hop stuff at bale breaker this year. a sunny yellow colored brew with a light chill haze on it and nearly an inch of white head from the tap, some lace clinging to the edges of the glass as i drink it down. aroma and flavor of fresh verdant herbs like lemon verbena and holy basil, white grapefruit flesh, a hint of coconut, and bitter orange zest and pith, really bright. the freshness is incredible, and there is a nice oily texture to this from the wet hops that carry the flavor. resinous and sturdy feeling, some wheat in this, but soft too, clean but still extended on the palate, nothing from the ferment to me, very minimal malt presence, dry cereals at the core of this, but its all hops in the flavor really, hints of strawberries and red fruit punch as it warms, tangerine and spruce too, really fresh and good. it was hard to pick a favorite here when we visited, all of their hoppy beers and fresh hop offerings were exceptional, such a cool place too right in the middle of the hop fields, so surprise this is what they are awesome at!
