This is the canned version bought out of the brewery cooler on 11/11/17.
Pours to a generous lacey head and hazy straw color. This style should be filtered or fined to crystal clarity but it is not. Aroma is sweet bready grains and light floral/grassy hops with a slight bubblegum note. Flavor is too "raw"; it's just way too doughy, bready and Dubble-Bubble for an American lager in my estimation. Props for the mouthfeel--light and carbonation just right. Overall a drinkable light beer but "off"-- nothing worth seeking out. Roughtail makes a lot of good beers and I admire the effort to branch out. I hope they take another swing at this with a more finely tuned grain bill, yeast and fermentation schedule and a tight filter to polish it to a brilliant shine. And if you work for Roughtail and think I am full of shit, please contact me. After all, it's just my impression.
