Appearance: Pours a syrupy brown just a shade away from black; a vague film forms and fades; very leggy
Smell: Multiple layers of chocolate, vanilla, toasted coconut and pecan; the Rum is modest but complements each of the elements
Taste: German chocolate cake flavors forward (chocolate, vanilla, toasted coconut and pecan) with each element playing a distinct role; the Rum emerges, through the middle, bringing a Caribbean touch; the finish is rich, sweet and balanced
Mouthfeel: Thick bodied with low carbonation; some warmth in the gullet
Overall: This is an outstanding pastry stout and it confirms my belief that there are under the radar breweries all across the country that are doing things just as good as the big names; if Bottle Logic produced this, the secondary community would be absolutely going nuts and bidding it up to sky-high price levels; as it is, this will languish in obscurity but I consider myself fortunate to have had the opportunity
