Pours amber in color with a thick, thick white head. Toasted, bready malt is the first thing I notice in the aroma, probably because I can't remember the last time I drank an IPA that actually had some malt backbone to it. After that, it's grapefruit pith and even a little bit of pine. The grapefruit flavor is present but balanced by malt sweetness; finishes with zesty citrus. Medium body that lingers on the tongue for second before drying up and leaving a little bit of the zesty/resiny bitterness and a hint of residual sweetness. With IPA's where they are nowadays, this one is more like a callback to the IPA's at the turn of the century, but with grapefruit added. It's good, and I'm glad I got to experience it.

First pour is fairly clear amber but some yeast in the bottom of the bottle shows up on the last pour. Lots of foam in the Crooked Line tulip. Quite frothy in the mouth and it sizzles with every sip. Aroma of grapefruit is quite powerful and clean.
There is more than a hint of sweetness along with the bitter peel. Very flavorful and totally grapefruit. It there are hops, who would know? There's an aftertaste of what makes me think of very ripe grapefruit picked off the tree on a hot day. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Jensens supermarket in Palm Springs.

another grapefruit ipa to throw into what is becoming it's own category. pale gold color, mild lacing on the glass, but minimal head. aroma is grapefruit find, tart citrus with more pink grapefruit across the palate. malt is clean and almost undetectable, but gives solid body to the pleasing 6.8% abv. bitterness lingers, and the beer finishes dry. bit of a one note brew, but enjoyable.

Had a taster at the brewery. Great brew. It's an ipa with grapefruit extract or rind added. If you like centennial and cascade hopped brews, this adds a whole new and fresh dimension to those ipas. Great aroma and flavor to accentuate a grapefruit ipa. Unique and interesting approach to a west coast ipa.
