I'm generally not a barleywine fan nor do I like "big dark beers" aged on fruit. HOWEVER, having said that, this one works! Great looking dark brown/black with a khaki head that's creamy and lasting. Nose is maple, smoke, molasses, brown sugar and with undertones of black fruit. Mouth feel is medium/bold with nice carbonation and really nice balance. Flavors follow nose with toasty, roasted grain, brown sugar, sherry/molasses tones and hints of black fruit, all nicely balanced. Good effort.
