This beer is really pretty in the glass, nice cooper/amber color that is bright and clear. The smell is incredible, massive hop dankness with a sweetness. The taste is pretty good, its a little sweeter up front, lending way to massive dankness which reminded me of onion and garlic. Its got a thicker than average mouthfeel for a large Imperial. No doubt this beer is big and it does a fair job of covering up the ABV, however I found myself tiring of this beer mid glass.

Had this offering at a tasting event. It smells and looks good like a big IPA of destruction but this keg was aged a bit (I believe I heard a couple months) which really pulled the experience down. The taste came off as malty, bitter (not in a hop way but almost spoiled), and almost slightly infected in a way. I can imagine if it was fresh it gives the impression it would be great. I want to try this again later when it is re-released. 3.43

Got my chance to try it a bit fresher and it is definitely improved. Still on the maltier side to balance the hops a bit but not heavy or too sweet. Came off quite well for a solid TIPA to me.

Served On-Tap

A — Pours a deep and heavy looking clover honey hued amber into the glass. No real head forms, just a really thin filmy layer of suds on top of the beer, some lacing does stick behind though.

S — Smell is quite nice, with loads of tropical and bitter hops, pineapple, melon, mango, citrus, clementine, really nice, though there is a resounding boozy burn to the nostrils.

T — Taste is great initially, with notes of pineapple, melon, citrus, caramel, then loads of sharp astringent bitterness and a warming alcohol burn.

M — Full bodied, heavy almost, lingering sticky sweet finish.

O — Good overall, just a bit excessive in all areas, lacks balance.

Not bad. A little unbalanced, but worth a shot.
