Hugely sudsy but not a foamer. It makes for a splendid mouthfeel, which is obviously important in this style since it has no brainfeel. Warm roasted flavor and a little sweetness. Dark reddish color with that long-lasting foam. Grainy, chocolately, and velvety. It's even better than a lot of Brown ales, but it has that same light caramel with a hint of butter, and a modest but distinct hop note at the finish.
I don't know how they make this so tasty. The Utah folks ought to make a field trip, since they're saddled with the 4.0 percent limit for draft beers. with this much flavor and two or three percent, you'd be in the money.
This is a first for me. Most stores seem to hide the "non-alcoholic" beer in a distant cooler shelf. Maybe it's like electric cars-- people like to know someone's making it, but they'll let other people actually buy it. From the 32 oz jug fill purchased at the brewery in downtown Bellingham.
