This beer pours a slightly cloudy golden color with a nice medium to large white foamy head. Aroma is mild malt and a little sweetness from the malt and yeast. Very well balanced with a good taste and mild hop bitterness 10 IBUs. BOD 10-17-2023 Rated 12-9-2024

 

Draft at the Handlebar. Hazy golden pour with a cap of tight white head. Aroma features briht citrusy notes. Taste is citrusy, zesty, crisp. Nice and light, crushable.

I am trying this beer off the tapper at the brewery as part of a five sample flight. It poured a hazy orangish with white head that left some lace. The scent had citrus and bittering hop notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with crisp semi sweet malt base with citrus, hints of pine and bold finish hop presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a great beer.

L: Golden, hazy, not much lacing
S: Bright, limey, sweet
T: Juicy, tropical and unexpectedly complex. Rye character comes through and drives a lot of flavor for such a drinkable pale. Great hop character. Is there a kind of amaro sense here? Mint?
F: Chill, soft, a tiny bit of pointy hops late

I feel like the complaints here have been overblown because it doesn’t adhere to style (but, really, a pale ale is the most broad..) or it’s too friendly (it’s not watery, it’s juicy). The brewery may also just have another year of practice on it…

In all, I think the beer is pretty fantastic. Worth a try if you’re a former hop-head into normal alcohol and want something like a laid-back Dale’s Pale Ale.

 

 

an american pale from a brewery who does it all. all except police quality perhaps, had a four month old can tonight and its still decent despite all odds. a little deeper in color and more malt driven overall than i expected, but the hops hit, break up the sweet and heft, and the bubbles here are enough for this to be at least a little refreshing. some oxidation in it though, and its not that old, that has to be fixed, some late grain attack too, and this is drinkable and good, but only to an extent, and part of me wishes they only did, or did more of the saison types because they slay, this cheapens the experience some for me, but i have been drinking. this should be better than it is, and even though a really banging craft pizza provides enough context to save this, its not that great of a pale to me right now, and i want cleaner, drier, better. hard to be all that hard on these guys, but come one, you can definitely make a better pale than this, and if you cannot, you have had all of us fooled for quite some time. fine, but it should be better than it is, ill die on that sword...

 

 

Juicy without much bitterness. I like the melon notes.

Not a full on juice bomb, but a little heavy to crush. I could see having one of these with a poke bowl or a hot dog.

 

 

Solid pale ale with exceptional body and a well rounded hop aroma. Small tight head with slowly disappearing legs. Great beer for dependable relaxation and drinkability. It's true potential definitely thrives in a chilled pint glass and served as cold as possible.

 

 

 

Cloudy pale orange with a half-finger of off-white head. Sloppy rings of lacing.

Juicy aroma with papaya, pineapple, tangerines, peaches, pine and white pepper.

Watered down tropical fruit and melon flavors and a little rye spiciness up front in the taste with some dull, pithy bitterness and a light minty note in the finish.

Soft, medium-bodied feel with strong carbonation bordering on fizzy.

Not bad. The flavors here are really nice, just a little watered down to my personal preference. Would be glad to session a few of these in one sitting.

12oz can purchased at Community Pint in Spokane for $2.99. According to the partially smeared stamp on the bottom, it was canned some time earlier this month (July, 2018 for you future beer archaeologists), but the exact date is unreadable. First time I've seen Aslan cans in Spokane, in fact my first Aslan beer not shipped to me by beertunes.

Poured into a shaker pint glass, this was a cloudy tangerine color, with a thin, beige head that dropped quickly. Tiny, spotty lace. Looks like a NE "haze, bro" version of a pale ale.

Tropical and citrus fruit aromas greeted the workers at my olfactory. Mostly sweet but with an underlying grapefruity bitterness.

While the flavor starts out soft and sweetly fruity, reminiscent of mangoes and oranges, the bitter, grapefruitiness noted in the nose carries out a hostile takeover midway through that stays through the finish. This bitterness does not meld well with what came before, it's way too far up in the mix for that.

Medium bodied, with a level of carbonation that seems a tad too low.

This is not a bad beer, but it's definitely not pushing the right buttons with me. Seems like the balance is out of whack. If Aslan is now being regularly distributed around here, I might try a draught pint of this and see if perhaps this was an abberation, but I can't see spending another $3 for a can if there's a chance it'll again be like this.
