A Dortmunder Export style lager can be thought of as a cross between a German Pilsner and a Helles. It is brewed to a higher starting gravity than other light lagers, making it a perfect winter beer. The unconventional use of Maris Otter malt works perfectly with this style, giving the firm malty body depth with a nuance of lightly toasted crackers.

I had this beer on-tap in a mug at Special Brews in Lynnwood, WA.
Appearance: medium gold hue with a clear body and a strong effervescence. Head is a finger of frothy white foam.
Smell: light aroma of sweet and grainy malt.
Taste: sweet with a bit of graininess. Hops are earthy with a strongish bitterness. The sweetness is just a tad too much for me, though.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a good carbonation and a very nice creaminess indeed.
Overall: a decent Dortmunder, if a little bit too sweet.

Served On-Tap
A — Pours a clean and clear orangey, coppery yellow color into the glass. Great clarity and a nice light white colored head sits on top and leaves some remarkable bits of lacing behind itself.
S — Smell is nice and lightly sweet, some crisp clean malt notes of crackers, toasted bread, a light caramel malts.
T — Taste is clean and lightly sweet, a little bit of a green grassy hop note brings some lemon and earth. A nice clean malt foundation shows toasted bread and crackers.
M — Medium bodied, a lingering sweetness is present and apparent hinting at the higher ABV.
O — Not bad at all, a nice lager from Aslan.
