On tap at McGillicuddy's Irish Ale House, Williston, Vermont.
Despite being poured into a pint glass, I got what was going on. Here's my observations.
The appearance was a thick dark brown color with some light semi-transparent amber hues along the sides. It was brought to me with no head but given where I was at, I'm pretty sure that if there was supposed to be some head to this beer, it would have shown.
The aroma had a nice sweet thick clean caramel malt that had a light cake/fudge-like maltiness rolling over some molasses. Pecans were super light, then some citrusy notes even lighter on the back end.
The flavor was moderately sweet with a mild roastiness to it. Pecan sweetness hits just a touch more. Mild aftertaste of the thick molasses to fudge/caramel maltiness.
The mouthfeel was almost medium bodied with a fair sessionable to sipping quality about it. Nothing cloying came across as I had wondered earlier thinking that the molasses that was put in this may have done that. It didn't and I was relieved. Carbonation was somewhat under but nice. Genuine smoothness with a nice strolling wetness. Smooth molasses to chocolatey fudge-like finish.
Overall, pretty nicely done porter for me, but I missed the dried orange peels, however, there was some citrusy notes to the aroma.
