Hook’s Stash is our annual collaboration beer with Mt Baker Ski Area to kick off the winter season! The name Hook’s Stash honors the ski area legend Randy Hook. This crisp American Lager is designed to shine through winter’s dark days. The malt profile shines with notes of white bread, rice, and cracker while being balanced by a lemony, floral hop presence.
HOPS: El Dorado, Strata
MALT: Pilsner, Corn, Rice

Pours a clear pale golden color with creamy foam in the appropriate Stella Artois goblet. They call it an American Pilsner so we'll categorize it as a German rather than a pale ale. Rather aromatic with a flowery and alfalfa hop. Tastes of cereal and bead. Some sort of Euro hop flavor that gets better as you sip. Nice mouthfeel with the creamy carbonation. From the 12 oz can purchased at the Co-op Market in Mount Vernon.

this has been rebranded as a modern pils type now, no longer a hazy pale. really nice and relatively unique beer in this space, and a standout lager from a brewery where pretty much all their lagers stand out. this is hoppy as they go, new school varietals, low bitterness and mostly dry hopped it seems, incredibly light to drink, expressive, dry, and highly refined, really dug this one. feminine looking can all floral and pastel toned, incredibly pale beer, almost watered down looking its so light, likely nothing more than pils malt in here, and the head is high and airy, belgian almost looking, is this can conditioned? looks like it might be, not fully clear but light enough that it doesnt matter. the nose and taste have strong grassy, herbal, and ripe melon notes, the hops drive this as the yeast is quite minimal to my senses. cantaloupe, lemon thyme, wet lawn, zero bite or greenness, this remains real delicate despite being hoppy, and almost hits like an italian pils without the bitterness. the body is amazingly light, the carbonation is fully effervescent, and this is bone dry, but without much yeast flavor. clever hop profile, neat that it starts so early in the flavor, and this is refreshing and snappy without being in any way boring as so many are. all day drinker in hot weather for craft nerds, i loved this.

On-tap at Prefunk.

A: Very, very light straw, much like an AAL.

S: Mild funk, grains, minor citrus rind, floral lemon.

T: Somewhat earthy on the palate, minimal biscuit, minor notes of citrus fruits and pith.

MF: Present bitterness, very light body, clingy dry finish.

O: A small brew indeed, fairly straight-forward as one would expect.

12oz can poured into 14oz teku. Poured a murky orange-yellow color with just a thin cap of white head that had low retention and no lacing.

The aroma was all fruity hops, with no malt or bitterness.

Same profiles on the tongue, all fruit hops.

The body was the typical light of the style.

Drinkability was fine, if not particularly memorable. Overall, another average Murkbomb.
