a thankfully well refined classic ipa here, done in collaboration with georgetown. one of their more straight ahead hoppy beers ive had, nothing really too remarkable about it, but the quality is high, which is nice in a style where aslan has either been super hit or super miss for me. a little bit of color to this, but high clarity and a bright white rising head from the tap. it smells a little european on the grain side, perhaps slightly baked and bready, earthy and a tad rich without being sweet. the hops are northwestern to me, some dankness up front, a gin botanical note, then more of a bitter citrus thing later on, some tropical nuance in the flavor, but this is relatively familiar on the hops side, its the freshness and tidiness that stand out, not the flavors really specifically, at least for me. i like the balance, and if it werent for the bitterness and body this would almost be a pale ale for me, the malt flavors are great with these hops, its not as out of the way as is on trend right now, and i appreciate its contribution to this, a very drinkable brew. good minerality, tangerine, under ripe melon, and grapefruit zest to finish, really clean ferment. not as dramatic as a lot of their hoppy stuff, but more refined to me. the georgetown influence in this collaboration is obvious.
