unique stuff, perhaps too flavored too be as refreshing as the original, but i thought this was cool, a neat combination of added flavors and a high degree of authenticity to both the berries and the peppers, and they marry up well together. this seems less light and dry and clean to me than the original, but i still like it for what it isnt, which means its not packed with lactose, vanilla, marshmallow, and all the other new wave junk being put in fruity kettle sours, its still very much a beer, even very much a berliner, and that makes it a winner for me, modern without being cheap or gimmicky. its a lot of berry in the nose and taste, sweet and jammy but also real, light fruity punch to it, neat with the citrusy bacterial tang this has, pretty tart but not overly acidic, and professional and tidy there. the habanero is all on the back end, somewhat minimal in the aroma and then surprisingly robust on the swallow, warm on the tongue and in the throat but not hot, and identifiable as habanero specifically, which is cool, almost has a spicy margarita vibe overall, still citrus driven to me with the way the kettle souring hits. the body is real light, a crackery pils taste still present through the fruit and spice, and its drier than i thought possible with the strawberry at the end. pleasant beer, a little too spicy to be real drinkable, but if you like pepper beers, this is one of the more unique ones i have had in some time. aslan is doing a lot of things well, i feel like they make beer for just about any palate, great hoppy stuff, lagers, funky beers, and now things like this. awesome brewery!
