This pours a dark brown with amber edges and very dark beige foam. Mouthfeel is smooth with adequate carbonation. Starts rather sweet but the grainy taste and burnt sugar add some balance. Quite bitter aftertaste. This is so dark it seems more like an American Porter or even a sweet Stout than any German Dunkel. Overall it is quite drinkable and even rich, as well as being highly flavorful for the moderate alcohol content. From the 12 oz can purchased at Elizabeth Station. Dated but not legible.
