a lovely cold ipa done for their 11th anniversary, time flies huh? stoked to have had the chance to drink on this, love what these guys do, and this is a neat one, a hazy cold ipa, which i didnt really know was a thing until i encountered a couple in the same week this week, cool! the mix of hops on this reads like an all star lineup, krush, strata, and talus, some of my former favorite experimentals that graduated to named varietals, and man is this fruity! bigtime mango in the nose of this light orange and softly hazy brew, sweet orange, subtle red berry from the talus there too, i love that hop, surprised its not more common now, its so original and identifiable, and its apparent to me here right away, even with these others. the malt is light in both aroma and flavor, pale and clean for the most part, although a little late sweetness does carry the best part of the hops past the swallow, no complaints there. the flavor leans peachy, still with mango in play, quite tropical, these hops blend expectedly well, juicy, a layer of white grape, that lemongrass thing from the krush, light coconut, super summery to me. bitterness is way low, hardly there, so this lingers uniquely, as it warms things like creamsicle and marmalade present. one thing i dont really appreciate here is the cold ipa aspect, this doesnt taste like lager yeast, doesnt have the crispness i expect from cold ipa, isnt as quick to resolve and lacks that tightness, none of which is a critique, i dig everything about this, but as a cold ipa specifically, im not positive it translates. soft feeling and not overdone at all despite the hop pungency, really well executed and to me certainly worthy of an occasion like an eleventh anniversary, hope to drink more of this one while its around...
