Our Scottish Ale is loaded with a clean malt bill layered throughout. Malt forward, yet sessionable. East Kent Golding hops balance this beer without overpowering the malt profile. Big in flavor to satisfy a malt craving, yet it remains smooth and balanced.

November 10th - I've heard of Scottish Ales and Exports, but not the two combined. So I am curious when approaching this brew to see what it might tell me about the hybrid of this style. The nose is rich with caramel, even salted caramel, adding a sweetness and salinity found in the heart of all salt water taffies, but this time flavored with extra malt for depth and darkness of scent. The flavor is also rich in caramel, maybe even more so, but a but tangier too. I also have the chance to try the draft non-nitro version, which is much tangier, almost like an Indian yogurt, and sweeter too. The tang I like, the sugar is overbearing, but the nitro version is tasty, and a great drink for people like me who would buy anything if it was drizzled with a salted caramel sauce.

On tap at Tony's Darts Away in Burbank, CA.
Pours a hazy copper with a foamy khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. A foamy curtain of lace coats the glass on the drink down. Smell is of toasted malt, caramel, and nut aromas. Taste is much the same with toast, caramel, and earth flavors on the finish. There is a medium amount of earth bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is tasty, but I think there is a slightly better aroma on this one.
Serving type: on tap.
