On nitro tap at Newhall Refinery in Newhall, CA.
Pours an opaque black with a foamy khaki head that settles to a small cap on top of the beer. A foamy curtain of lace coats the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, char, and cocoa powder aromas. Taste is much the same with char, cocoa powder, and slight coffee bean flavors on the finish. There is a medium amount of roast bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a smooth, creamy, and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that has a nice mix of roast and cocoa aspects all around, but it's a bit more bitter than I was expecting.
