12oz can poured into a tulip glass…
=====
Look
Poured brown-black with a 3 finger foamy, mocha head; No light coming through.
Smell
I could smell the piney hops immediately upon pour. Also chocolate, hoppy, roasty
Taste
Coffee and toasty; There was a lingering, peppery, bitter aftertaste, which felt unbalanced.
Mouthfeel
Fairly flat with medium/heavy, smooth body
=====
I recall loving Sublimely Self Righteous, and particularly Wookey Jack. For this one, I did not care for the flat mouthfeel and what I felt was an unbalanced, strong, lingering, bitterness. Purchased can for $1.99 in Southern California

Serving type: 12 oz can into a shaker pint
Looks pitch black with slightly off-white head. Persisted throughout the entire pint. Moderate lacing. Aroma is of pleasant roasted malt, blueberry, slight pine, with some underlying blueberry and chocolate notes. Taste is mostly the same as the aroma only with a more robust roasted/bitter malt that plays well with the fruity hops. Mouthfeel is thicker than expected. Finishes crisp, wanting me to drink more of the beer. Overall, this is a pretty excellent black IPA that hits all the right marks now that Wookey Jack is forever discontinued. Would highly recommend, especially since this is a dying style.

It's been awhile since I've had a good black IPA, or even just an average example, so I was excited when I stumbled upon this. It pours an extremely dark brown with a bit of light khaki head. It appears to be well carbonated. Aroma is quite fruity up front with some roast on the back end. Taste is very similar with notes of fruit leading into flavors of roasted coffee. The feel is light and crisp, and it's quite refreshing. Overall, this was very enjoyable and I'm glad that I decided to grab it. I just wish that beers of this style were more readily available like they used to be.
