Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque black in the glass with a thin, light khaki head that dissipates to patches with light lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, lactose, cinnamon, light cocoa and almond. Flavor follows almost exactly, but with a mild bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied with light creaminess. A nice flavored milk stout with good lactose balance and interesting additional flavors that do resemble horchata, except most of those that I've had were pale and vanilla oriented, and this has a light cocoa note. The latter is probably from the dark malt. Doesn't exactly taste like a horchata to me, but does conjure up a Mexican profile and is a pleasant milk stout overall. Nice introduction to this brewery.
