L- Inky black, with tiny flashes of ruby red in the bottom corner of the glass when hold up close to a light. Pours with 3mm fine tan head, reducing slowly.
S- Toasty with distinct coffee notes.
T- Fascinating, it's lighter/fresher than I'd imagined, esp. for a 6.0%. There's coffee, cocoa, it's quite rich and then into a slightly dry finish.
F- I'm not a born fan of black beer, but this one is different, it has character. Lovely balance, entirely sessionable.
O- A solid stout that's refreshing. I'll happily buy this again.
Bought from BeersOfEurope. 500ml bottle. BB 12/2019
Rest and pour it well, it's bottle-conditioned, and the residue in the bottom of this one is heavy.
p.s. the bottle lable describes being given the recipe by 'Andy Mitchell at the Spectrum Brewery. He has now passed the secret recipe to Beeston Brewery [etc]'. I see the earlier Spectrum version is no more, so I'll flag that for the Admins after submitting this.

Bottle conditioned. Almost black Thick frothy head which dissipates leaving a maintained thin layer.
Aroma of chocolate and coffee which continues into the flavour. Quite heavily roasted malt leads to a moderately bitter completion.
Medium to full body but rather short. Soft carbonation.
Quite an easy drinking stout.
