Served on draft today at the Alpha Brewing Company. The brewer has told me this is a barrel aged sour coffee brown ale.
A very interesting take on a coffee beer. Dark brown in color with a light biege head. The smell is faint of coffee with notes of lactic tartness. Upon taking a sip, it instantly comes to me that this is a sour beer. Not so overwhelming as it is well balanced with the sweet malt and the bitter coffee. The beer tastes as if three ingredients were used to formulate this recipe. There is the note of cherries and lactic tartness/sour at the beginning. Next there are notes of coffee comes through with slight bitterness and depth. Then the beer finishes with sweet burnt malt. Mouthfeel is medium to full body. Overall I'd say this is an oddball beer but very enjoyable.

This beer reminded me a lot of Jolly Pumpkin's Madrugada Obscura, with a hint of coffee. Slightly sour, hint of coffee, smooth mouth feel, a nice experience. Luckily for me, we were there on the day it was bottled, so I got one to take back home.
