Chocolate Oatmeal Stout

16oz can pours a very deep cola brown with a small amount of dark tan head that mostly fades away quickly. Not too much to the aroma, just faint malt and coffee. The low carbonation is very evident in the flavor, giving it an unappetizing flat soda sort of feel. I taste cheap, crappy coffee more than anything chocolate-y. Feels overly heavy and thick without any nice rich flavor you might expect with such a mouthfeel. There is an initially very understated bitterness that really punches you in the mouth near the end. Overall just a really poor balance of just about everything and not a pleasant drinking experience

I've come to known Oatmeal Stouts for awesome balance and a perfect smooth, refined flavor, but this is anything but that. Awful balance and a lack of any great flavors in there. Tastes bad.

From a sixteen ounce can, this brew pours a deep brown color with a tan head of medium height. The aroma is of sweet chocolate, backed with a coffee-like roasted quality. The taste is semi-sweet, with a solid bitterness. It has a little plastic-home brew quality that is distracting, but is otherwise enjoyable and tasty. Medium body. Not as silky and hefty as I expected, given the oatmeal, but okay.
