easily the best beer from our trip to alpha, I am a huge mosaic hop geek, and have recently had it in a homebrew of mine, so I was stoked to see this on the menu. it pours a hazy paler golden color with an inch of white head, looking nice enough. the nose is that tropical fruit complex stereotypical of the mosaic hop itself. not a ton of bitter, and the lighter pale and crystal malt body really lets this unique hop shine. the flavor is a little muted compared with the nose, but still excellent and super fresh. not sure what yeast is going on here, but it is a little interesting, and combines well with the fruity notes. mild bitterness only on the finish, a little passion fruit tartness, and a lot of refreshment. my only question is why is this called double anything at only 5%? beef it up a little, dry hop the bejeezus out of it, and call it a double please, not this. as it stands though its a fantastic pale ale, with a lot more interesting subtleties than most. light and easy drinking, a very clever beer from such a new operation, I am impressed.

Pours a cloudy, copper color. 1/4 inch head of a white color. Decent retention and good lacing. Smells of strong/fresh hops, slight sweet malt, hint of rye?, hint of alcohol. Fits the style of an American Pale Ale. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of strong hops, slight sweet malt, slight grass, hint of floral, and a hint of alcohol. Overall, the best 'low gluten' beer I've ever had.
