Poured from the can into a nonic pint glass. Canned December 12th 2014. Yeah duh going for it of course!
Deep copper red, hints towards chestnut real nice clarity with minimal carbonation. Head is a nice creamy filled off tan color, three fingers tall, settling to a nice bowled whipped like half finger top.
Soft caramel warmth, nutty hints of chestnut and very creamy vanilla smelling. Excellent toasty aromas of brown bread, followed with an almost sweet cinnamon like character. Very inviting almost has a winter warmer angle, but with emphasis on toast, with a nice creamy sweetness that follows.
Palate is tangy. A nice fruit twinge but very subtle of almost cherry like quality, followed by classic malty scottish tones. Brown bread softness in the mid palate, with milky cream following. A bit ferrous metallic note aftertaste but ever so small as the creamy and vanilla like flavors really add some nice body to the beer with time as you consume. Malty chocolate whoppers candy like quality as well, mixing with some caramel action to compliment.
Time has mellowed out nicely, and the beer feels way bigger than the abv indicates. A bigger body would really make this impressive, but that's splitting hairs. Nice Scottish Ale.

Smooth and malty with a nice touch of bitterness from the hops that mutes the sweet malts. I thought I'd be missing the high ABV but 5% did well for this beer. Not as big and bold as some Scottish Ales but good none-the-less.

For as light as this beer is the flavor is excellent for the Scotch ale style. I'm really on board with this one.

Aroma of caramel, nuttiness, malt. Taste malt, caramel, brown sugar.
