No bottling date that I can find but I believe this came out two months ago.
A: A rich dark brown pour with a mid-sized and very fizzy light brown head. Head dissipates very quickly leaving no lacing and just sparse head retention.
S: Very sweet. Brown sugar, molasses and caramel I'd say. Spiced, like a winter warmer-ish brew - vanilla and cloves for sure.
T: Taste is much less sweet than the aroma. Heavily spiced now, lots of cloves. Caramel and molasses but less than the aroma betrayed. Some citrus and raisin fruitiness. Vanilla sweetness on the back end with more rum. Lightly boozy but not overly.
M: Fairly heavy but the rum barrel cuts it down a bit. Somewhat boozy.
O: Very interesting and unique dubbel. Rum barrel adds a lot of character and the spices turn it almost into a winter warmer or christmas-y brew. Not quite though, I don't get any cinnamon or nutmeg. Definitely cloves and vanilla though. Well balanced though, the barrel and the spices don't overpower and they really compliment the typically bland dubbel underneath. Very nice.
