Draft at Lost Dog in McLean, VA.
Super hazy, rusty orange to copper hued body. Soapy, off-white head of approximately a quarter inch. Aromas of pine, orange peel. Aggressively hop forward with bitter orange peel. Additional notes of pine, spiced bread, alcohol. Medium to full body. Ok.

Not exactly what I was hoping for here, given Heist's rep for killer NE IPAs. This pours almost a caramel color, not the straw color I'm looking for in this beer. It smells decent, but the fruitiness is a bit muted. It smells like sweet hard candy, a touch of pine, and a tiny bit of citrus. No juicy hop explosion in the flavor either. This is just a sweet, kind of non-descript DIPA for me. It also seems a tiny bit undercarbed.
This' isn't bad by any means, it just isn't what I was hoping for given the collaborater and killer hop bill. It's much more along the lines of The Admiral (which brothers has been brewing for 4 years), than anything Heist is putting out. I'm not sure if it's the honey or what, but I do wish they would have let Heist take the reigns on this beer, because this reminds me of a Brothers IPA.
