Inky black pour with ruby edges at 54 degrees; Super fast fizzy dark tan head; no cap retention, ring or lace; heavy legs sheet the glass. Cherries, oak and booze nose. Sweet cherries, lite spicy wood/black pepper; caramel, chocolate; vanilla on the back end; very little roast or bitterness. Medium body, moderate minus carbonation; smooth feel; some bite on tongue, and warmth from 13.5 percent. Overall, an easy drinking BBA RIS; thin for abv; I liked the woody black pepper vibe, and I would have liked more bourbon and vanilla; with the alcohol heat it did taste like a slice of warm Black Forest cake.

Pours a solid black color with about half a finger of tan head that is slow to fade. Smell is predominately a slightly dark chocolate (like a 60% bar), cherries, and a little bit of bourbon. Taste is dark chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, roasted malts, and a little bit of cherries which show up towards the finish. Fairly clean finish, medium-heavy body. Good beer, leans more towards Resolute than tasting of a Black Forest cake, but the chocolate and cherries are still there. Body is a bit thinner than I'd expected but certainly tasty.
