By today's standards, barleywines taste timid, but this one--though mildly flavored--has a nice balance malt, fruit, and hops.

L: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a milk chocolate brown color and a very cloudy consistency. There was a massive, creamy, off white, mostly long-lasting head. Excellent lacing.
S: A pretty good aroma of malt, caramel, hops, smoke, and light fruit.
T: Tasted of a good shot of hops (mostly in the finish, but very pronounced), a bit of light fruit (apples, in particular), a little dark fruit (raisins, especially), a good shot of malt (present throughout, though subtle), and a smoky quality as well. This a super solid, easy to like flavor. Well-balanced, straightforward and pretty tasty.
F: A decent bit of carbonation with a smooth, yet dry finish. Medium-bodied.
O: Not the greatest barleywine ever, but definitely easy to drink. Worth a try.

Don’t let my low(ish) score deter you from trying this. It was a new bottle and this style of beer should get better with age (hopefully).
It poured a dark brown, the color of a Belgian quad, with a moderate amount of carbonation but very little head. The smell was of dark fruits, yeast, and smoke.
The taste was smooth with a medium mouthfeel. Smoke is the predominate flavor. It also have a very subtle bitterness on the backend.
I’m not a fan of smokey beer, hence the low taste rating. The base flavor is decent and I encourage you to try it.
