"Prima Pode" literally translate to "female cousin can", but learning the proper meaning of the term, it really means "female cousin you can fuck". Of course, this beer is coming from the same brewer who has also released beers with sexualized names like Gordelicia, Refrescado de Safadeza, and Fio Terra, so I'm not surprised. Here comes a 300 ml stubby bottle. On to the beer:
That is some short head on top this muddy brown beer. Noticeable sediment floats all around the bee, even when I left the dregs in the bottle. Its aroma is on the mark though. I smell a fresh cut of pine, vague tropical fruits, sweet toffee. Just as a I would expect an India Brown Ale to smell.
Beer meets palate, and the palate is hit with a sweet rush at the start. Not as hoppy as the aroma as it is in the taste, but the hops sure make a mark with their bitterness which lingers. Vegetal notes echo around too. Despite the few minor flawed noted, the beer is simply missing the action of carbonation. Flavor wants to jump onto my palate, but without the trampoline of carbonation, the beer takes on a nearly flat character.
I smelled something good, and the rest was below par. Prima Pode could be a Brazilian version of Dogfish Head's Indian Brown Ale with proper carbonation and elimination of the echoing vegetal note. Otherwise, I'd rather spend some Reais for a good time at a bordello.

Brown color with a thin head with short retention.
Light aroma with notes of creamy chocolate, citrusy hops and mild caramel.
Bitter flavor with notes of toasted malts, some charred wood, cocoa, earth, citrusy hops, grapefruit, orange-lemon juice and tea leaves. Dry and bitter aftertaste with a residual roasted note. But it feels lower than its 60 IBUs.
Light body with appropriate carbonation. Alcohol of 6.5% abv is completely absent.
Very good American Brown Ale with nice and assertive toasted notes and citrusy hops. Well balanced and faithful to style.
