Notes taken from February 2012. The only other brewery which I had tasted a "dark witbier" was The Bruery's Black Orchard, so Moonwalker comes with much curiosity. Only 4% alcohol too, great. 600 ml bottle shared by André at Urbana, on to the beer:
Yes, it's black colored, but also with dark brown hues. A finger's thickness of foam sits on top, and it retains well. The aroma brings anise, some roast, and soft succulent fruitness, and it all blends well together. The flavor is appealing as well despite the dark malt. It shares a mix of soft citrus fruits, some orange peel, vague spice, soft roasted malt. All the key aspects of such a style are here. It's a little undercarbonated in this light and smooth beer, but that's its only fault.
Quite the treat and perhaps the biggest surprise of the day. So it's true, big things can come in small packages.
