Notes taken from February 2012. This was the grand finale during my visit at Urbana. André brings out the big Imperial Stout with 120 IBU's and brewed with Venezuelan chocolate. What's in the name? Well, André and the crew went into work one day, they spotted a dead cat laying inside a box near their doorstep. Yeah, I'm excited. Coming from a 600ml bottle, on to the beer:
A few legs clings around the glass, showing how thick this beer is. Its color is black as black and topped with a tanned head with acceptable lacing. The aroma shows a lot; at first a large attack of piney hops, and suddently it's smuthered by lots of chocolate and coffee. Despite the chaos, it smells great.
Big flavor? Complexity? It's here. So much fun is packed inside this beer, and in comes in the form of chili, piney hops, chocolate, roasted coffee, and alcohol which is hidden extremely well. It's a full bodied beer and on the chewy side.
Imperial Stouts are generally fun to drink, however Cat in the Box can peak its head above much of the crowd. Most Imperial Stouts in the US don't reach this level of goodness. Simply put, an outstanding beer! Thank you, thank you so much André!
(Urbana also has made variations of this beer since then, including an oak-aged version. I'd love to try that!)

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
