Actually, I really liked this! Had a bomber dated May 2017 from bottle shop local to the brewer. Still, was on the shelf at room temp for 5 months, and I was a little concerned, but it seems to have held up well so far. First sip gives forward bourbon barrel flavors, followed by ale and honey. Then you realize that this is a wheat beer, and that is there, too, if you think about it. After taste wears quite well of the wheaty, honey flavor with some bourbon. That the beer, honey, and barrel flavors hold together so well gives this a certain amount of dreaminess. Very nice.

Wax seal, BTW, is fairly thick wax. It looks like bees wax, but it has the consistency of polyetheylene and it took a bit of cutting with an exacto knife.

Poured into a pint glass from a wax sealed 22oz bottle. Honey colored, very thin head and very little lacing. Honey, vanilla and orange in the nose. Smooth and full in the mouth, honey seems to contribute to the body. Very light carbonation. Taste is sweet honey and vanilla, with subtle bourbon and every so slightly smokey finish.

(The wax seal is quaint, but is a pain to get off)

Not too sweet. Light on the pallet and the tummy. A quick punch at 9% so be careful! Better after a few sips. A small bit of bubbles. Impressed and proud of the local brewery for stepping up.

 

This beer pours out with the color of southern sweet tea. The smell is honey on a citrus high. It is very tasty and the bourbon barrel aging is very subtle allowing all the flavors to come through without being boozy. It has a big full mouth feel and has just the right amount of carbonation. Nice beer for sure.

 

I love hefeweizen. I love bourbon barrel aged beer, and I love honey. Together it is a mishmash that is more interesting than it is good. Smells boozy, with the wheat and the bourbon becoming best buds in a powerful combo, with the sweeter honey, citrus, and vanilla being pushed to the back. Taste is more balanced, actually get faint wood too, but still is a little off the wall to be taken seriously as a hefeweizen, same with the feel. That being said if this leaned into the kookiness of the craft more, and aged a little longer, I think it would have translated better instead of just dipping the toe

 

 

Very good, but a bit one-dimensional. The bourbon character is pleasant, but the beer needs more body to complement the bourbon. Just leaves something to be desired.

An 'imperial hefeweizen agen in charred bourbon barrels' per bottle label.Pours into a weizen glass a hazed lemon tinged tea with a thinner slight off white head.Vanilla and spiced pear stand out in the nose,a bit of clove and banana is prevelant as well,the bourbon shows thru more with the vanilla than anything else.Rich toasted oak along with vanilla tinged bourbon on the palate along with clove and banana,to me like a barrel aged weizenbock with not a full body.I like this beer alot,if the body was beefed up it would be awesome.
