Had this beer awhile ago and forgot to post something about it. My Frat Brother in NC sent me this and I cracked it open the next day. It seems like it's more of a regular IPA than a NEIPA as advertised. I guess that's why it's been named "Fake News".

 

 

 

 

Drank this at The Gizmo Brewery, freshly kegged. This is one of their flagship brews and it is always available.
The earth is flat.
Looks orangey, hazy. Nice head and light lacing.
Smells citrusy, more orange than lime,
Tastes orange, not piney.
Mouth feel is creamy, but not as much as I would expect from a NE IPA, it's like NE IPA light.
Overall it's not as NE IPA as you might expect. Would I order again? At the brewery? YES. Any where else? Maybe.....

 

 

 

The name says it all. Fake News. I’m very disappointed. After a lot of anticipation the expectations and promises just weren’t met. I suppose, it might actually be a very fitting name after all.
Look: This beer had an unnatural orange glow to it. Just looking at it made me feel unneasy.
Smell: it had a rich smell, but more of an artificial rich smell. Like the new car smell aerosol spray vs an actual new car.
Taste: My tastebuds feel assaulted. As if they’ve been yanked, or perhaps grabbed by this beer. Whether I swished it to the left or right side of my mouth, my sense agreed there was shitty beer on both sides.
The feel: it was surprisingly soft and full bodied, yet, it felt tiny in my hands. It was a bizarre experience.
Overall: very displeased. Gizmo has some great beers but I did not enjoy Fake News. I will not be purchasing this beer again and I hope most people ask for it to be removed from all store shelves by November 2020, at the latest!

 

Picked up a can in Raleigh while visiting but it took me a little while to drink it. Opened with a citrus smell. Can overflowed a little. Taste is not very citrus. More pine and malty. I don’t feel NEIPA but this is a solid IPA. Funny can. Maybe the New England label is Fake News?
