Notes: Gizmo Brew Works' IPA derives its name from the Palisade hop, the main flavor and aroma hop in the brew. Bred in the northwest US in Yakima Valley, Palisade hops typically function as complementary hops, but this IPA emphasizes their unique flavor profile. The Palisade Wasp IPA conveys a strong floral aroma with a hint of tangerine. Its complex flavor imparts apricots, flowers, and an earthy, grassy bitterness, accentuated by a clean, dry finish.

22oz bomber into pint glass, color was typical of the style, smell wasn't at all hoppy as "expected" for an IPA. The taste was slightly hoppy, but the malt backbone did slightly overpower as there was little citrus to it. Doesn't have a huge Abv so, all-in-all, this is a very well-made and sessionable IPA.

Poured on-tap at the brewery in a clear plastic cup, the beer is a hazy, bright, golden-yellow coloring with a filmy, light, white head. Nose of subtle grapefruit, pine notes, and resinous hops. Very light nose. Flavors are tangy sweet forward, with honey and caramel, followed-by resinous and dank hops characteristics. Hops bitterness builds as you go. The body is light, smooth, and slightly effervesced. Tart citrus and resinous aftertaste, with a smooth, clean finish.

This IPA has a great appearance. It is a very clear, but beautiful orange color with an absolute torrent of bubbles rising from the bottom. On the first couple days after opening the growler there was 2 good fingers of bone white head that left a bit of lacing down the glass. The aroma is all hops: lemon, orange peel, a bit of spruce.

There's not much going on in the flavor though. There's a good bit of bitterness right away that gives way to an alcohol flavor. The alcohol fumes linger in your sinuses. And the ABV really isn't high. I'd say the mouth feel is about medium light. Even though there's ample carbonation visible in the glass, it remains smooth.

This is a good use of the Palisade hop but fails to deliver the punch most Palisade's produce. The fruitiness is there but you miss the tangerine taste. I wouldn't call in complex but not overly simplistic either. The 6.7 ABV makes this a good beer for chugging or Thursdays.

Lots of Palisade hops giving it a dry bitterness. Not your normal bitter flavor. No citrus like you'd expect in a typical west coast IPA.

Most IPA's tend to taste the same after a while. This one is different.

I'll order it again and recommend others do the same.

On tap at Bottlemixx

A - bright gold with a thin, pure white head that fades quickly

S - floral, piney, faint malt presence

T - piney, earthy, bitter, faint malt

M - medium bodied, crisp

This is a bit forgettable for me. The flavor here relies totally on the hop character so there's no balance. The hops are bitter and offer some flavor, but they are hardly intricate. I'm unimpressed with this beer.
